BIG-IP v10.1 Released

Somewhere I seem to have neglected to mention that a new version is out — 10.1

You can download it from the typical spot:

Software: https://downloads.f5.com/esd/productlines.jsp
Documentation: https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us.html  – Select your product from the dropdown box

Make SURE you have a valid service contract before activating!  You’ll need to do some updating in order for the installation to complete.

If you don’t (or if you forgot to check, and then found out you don’t), we’ll refresh how to get back to working order:

Recall the switchboot command:

Using switchboot in non-interactive mode

If you know which boot image slot you want to boot, you can type the following command and specify the short-form description of a boot image location (example: HD1.1) for <location>:

switchboot -b <location>

If you want to list the available boot image slots without specifying a new boot image from which to boot, type the following command:

switchboot -l

To list the options for the switchboot utility, type the following command:

switchboot -h

You’re going to want to use these 2 specifically:

switchboot -c to return the current boot location

switchboot -b <location> to swtich to another boot location (presumably another one you’re not currently on)

You’re going to want to make sure you’ve got this covered prior to rebooting your production box though, so you don’t have to freak out trying to remember how to fix it, while your sites/services/stuff is inaccessible.
